Katy Oakley graduated from The New School for Social Research with a Master's degree in Anthropology in May 2025. Since then, she has been working as a researcher, writer, and production assistant at The Self-Portrait Project, a non-profit organization that operates as a participatory art and technology ecosystem. Katy is also an associate researcher and writer on The New Historia team. Each of these projects represents an alternative archival system that addresses the inequity produced by dominant systems of knowledge production and dissemination.
